I'd like to apologize for the lack of updates. At least in part, this is because I haven't been getting a lot of chapters lately -- other than Defenders 21, now live, I don't think I've gotten a single thing from a single author in months.
The other half, of course, is that I haven't been producing much. This is because of the wonderful new work going on in the Revolutions Universe, including my new story Resistance.
I'm sorry for the lack of updates, but there is only so much any one single author can do. That said, there have been a few minor site updates that may interest you.
On an opt-in basis, authors can now have epub files automatically generated for them by the site code, and distributed on-demand to you the readers.
The 'opt in' basis means that until and unless an author explicitly requests a given story be activated for this feature (by providing me with a image to use as a cover), a story will not be available through epub. Once opted-in, epubs can be downloaded by going to the story page and clicking 'epub availble'. The opt-in process is necessary because of publication rights. I have been granted the right to publish these stories on a website, and some authors quite emphatically do not believe that includes the right to provide epubs for offline viewing. They are concerned about loosing control of their work by making distribution too easy. As a result, I can't simply generate covers for every story and let you download whatever you want. I'd like to, but I'm not allowed.
Currently, only my own stories are opted-in, and only some of those. (Those I already have covers for -- Guardians, Trillion Dollar Family, and Sword of Light) Currently, the system only fully supports the long-novel format; short story collections will produce sub-optimal results, but should still work.
I hope the readers enjoy the new features and material available, and I hope there won't be as long of a gap between this update and the next one as there was between this update and the last one.
